Scholars believe Jesus lived 33 years before he was crucified on Good Friday. Which means Jesus lived approximately 12,000 days before his death. The Gospel writers Matthew, Mark, Luke and John focused their writings on just 1,100 of those days (Jesus’ last three years); with particular interest in one day – Jesus’ last day, the day he was crucified. All the Gospel writers give significant attention to the events and details surrounding Jesus’ final 24 hours. Why is that? Why so much attention and description of Jesus’ last 24 hours? It’s because the Gospel writers were convinced that Jesus’ last day changed the world, the course of human history and them. This Lenten season Northwood will take a fresh look at Jesus’ final 24 hours and reflect how Jesus’ final day changed the world, history and us.
