“It’s my favorite day of the year.”
This sentiment from Pastor Luke was shared by many last weekend as we celebrated the faith of nine Northwooders through baptism. Hundreds of family, friends, and church members gathered at Weaver Lake Park for an evening of food, fun, and faith.
As the picnic wound down, two adults and seven teenagers stepped up to the microphone to share the story of God transforming their lives. Each beautiful story was rich with themes of love, forgiveness, transformation and newfound purpose and hope. Pastor Brian commented “I’m always moved deeply hearing gate personal stories of those who are baptized. They inspire me and remind me how much God loves all of us and wants a relationship with us.”
After the stories they went out into (the still pretty chilly) Weaver Lake to be baptized as onlookers crowded along the shore, cheering as each person arose from the water. It was a beautiful celebration and a great reminder of why Northwood Church exists.
Northwood is hear to help more people believe in Jesus Christ and become more like him. The Baptism Party was a celebration of how God is at work. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the great evening!
