Greetings from Chiconautla! It has been an amazing two days so far. Saturday we arrived safely and connected with our host families. Katie and I reunited with Juanita and have been having a great time catching up on life. We´ve been up into the early hours of the morning sharing photos and talking in Spanglish. Don is enjoying his time with Isaac and Susana and was able to connect with his host family from two years ago. It is really good to be back after so many years.
Sunday we participated in the worship services at Bet-lehem. Bret preached 3 services and we all had the opportunity to share our faith stories. The response to Don’s and Katie’s faith stories was amazing. We had the opportunity to share in some very happy moments in the life of Bet-lehem as we saw four baptisms and one baby dedication yesterday as well. It really feels like we are with family.
As the three of us met this morning we all expressed the difficulty that we´re having with getting our eyes off of ourselves. A prayer of St. Francis of Assisi that we shared this morning is helping us:
“O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.”
Pray for us as we are experiencing the willingness of our spirits, and the weakness of our flesh. Ask that the Holy Spirit would move powerfully in our weakness. Pray that Jesus would be glorified in all that is done and said this week. Dios te bendiga!
