Jesus, Barabbas and Pilate: Friday, 7 a.m. [March 25th, 2012]

[powerpress]

Description: The religious leaders of Jesus day wanted him killed but they had no legal authority to do so.  So, following two illegal trials with trumped up charges they led Jesus to Pilate and played him to get what they wanted.  Pilate, wanting to keep peace in Jerusalem and wishing to gain favor with the people, caved in to their request and handed Jesus over to be crucified, but not before offering to release Jesus or the convicted murderer, Barabbas.  In another moment of disbelief, the guilty Barabbas was released instead of the innocent Jesus.   Pilate’s weakness and failure in the face of pressure challenges us all to do the right thing no matter what.
