Two Great Loves

Courageous Faith

The Old Testament book of Ruth contains two beautiful love stories that somebody should make into a movie: 1) Ruth and Naomi 2) Ruth and Boaz. The first story demonstrates a deep, tender, loving commitment between a woman and her mother – in – law, summarized with Ruth saying, “Where you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people and your God will be my God.” The second story is how Ruth and Boaz fall in love and marry through the OT Hebrew practice called, “Levirite marriage,” aka the “Kinsman Redeemer.” Underneath these stories, of course, is Ruth’s growing love for God and trust in him for her life and future. Ruth’s two love stories remind us that when we courageously trust in God through our hardship and brokenness, God redeems our life and makes something beautiful out of it.
