Coveting is being envious of something another person has and it can lead to stealing. Both coveting and stealing are rooted in the sin of greed – seeking happiness and joy through possessions and things instead of God. Coveting and stealing break the first commandment that says we are to have no other gods before the Lord God. While few of us are guilty of stealing, all of us struggle with coveting. The cure to coveting is trusting God to supply our needs and finding our contentment in him, not in stuff and things . . . easier said than done, right?
