God promises to reward our generosity towards him and others. God even goes so far as to say that when we are generous towards others he will be generous towards us. This is not a “give so we can get” promise. It’s just a fact that somehow God rewards our generosity towards others in ways that bless us in return. That was the story of the early believers in Corinth. Out of their meager incomes they gave to help believers in Jerusalem during a time of famine and suffering. The Corinthians gave not because they had to but because they wanted to – and God used their generosity to meet the needs of others and bring glory to himself. God wants us to be like the Corinthians and give joyfully, generously and sacrificially so that needs will be met and people experience the love of Jesus Christ. So, how generous are you these days?
