Though written 2000 years ago, 1 Thessalonians was written for today. It speaks to a culture saturated with seductive images and sexual pressures. It talks about how to live not just for the here and now but with an eternal perspective in mind. It reminds us there is a cost to following Jesus. It answers important questions about life after death and Jesus’ return. Above all, 1 Thessalonians gives us specific, practical ways we can live a holy life that pleases God. Listen to 1 Thessalonians 5:23, “Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.” God is faithful … he promises to make us holy if we wholeheartedly follow his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Are you living a holy life that pleases God? Are you wholly living?
