Every Wednesday teens from all around the northwest metro gather together and break bread. It’s a wonderful tradition in NSL to begin our midweek programming with a meal. Starting with food allows our youth leaders a chance to catch up on life with the students. It allows our students a brief reprieve as they shuffle from school to practice to youth group. It allows hurried families to check “dinner” off their busy schedule for the night. And it allows new students a warm and inviting welcome when they visit for the first time.
Midweek Meals are essential to how we do ministry, and it takes a lot of work to make them happen each week. There are two primary ways of helping keep this tradition alive and well.
If you have a student in the youth group, send some money along with them to youth group from time to time. Every week there is a jar to collect donations. Teens don’t need to donate in order to eat, but these donations are what allow us to provide food each Wednesday. We suggest around $20/month per student.
