The Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds [Sept. 25, 2011]

Description: “Nominal Christians” are people who profess to be Christians and have the appearance they follow Jesus, however, in their heart and in reality, they really don’t.  Nominal Christians are posers who participate in the life of the church but have never truly surrendered their heart and life to Jesus.  In the parable of the wheat and weeds Jesus has two words, one for believers (the wheat) and one for unbelievers (the weeds).  To the wheat Jesus says, “Be more concerned about the wheat than the weeds.  Focus your attention, energy and effort on growing more wheat.”  To the weeds Jesus says, “Beware! Judgment is coming! Repent and believe!”  Jesus’ words speak to every church, Northwood included.  To believers at Northwood Jesus says, “Grow more wheat!” To unbelievers at Northwood Jesus says, “Beware!  Judgment is coming! Believe and become wheat!”  Which one are you?  Wheat or weeds?
