The Torture and Humiliation of the King: Friday, 8 a.m. [April 1, 2012]

Description: Jesus experienced unimaginable suffering from the hands of his oppressors.  They beat him with rods.  The scourged him 39 times with a whip times that cut open his back.  They thrust a crown of thorns on his head.  They slapped him.  They spit on him.  They taunted him with words.  How could Jesus’ tormenters be so heartless, cruel and blind to their actions?  How could they take such delight in hurting Jesus?   And, why didn’t Jesus fight back?  What motivated him to endure such horrific suffering?  Looking back, the physical suffering of Jesus tells two contrasting stories:  the depravity of man and the love of God.   Which story are you drawn to?  Which story do you want to give your life to?
