New Worship Pastor

The Church Co   -

I have some really exciting, good news to tell you! God has answered our prayers and led a godly, gifted leader to Northwood to be our Worship Arts Pastor! His name is Isaac Holst and both our Leadership and Search Teams are grateful, excited and enthused God is bringing Isaac to lead us. Isaac is a gifted musician and leader with a heart for worship and he really loves people and the church.

Here’s some background information about Isaac … He graduated from Bethel University in 2016 with a double major in Biblical/Theological Studies and Philosophy. For the past five years Isaac served and led in worship roles in a variety of churches, including Worship and Youth Pastor at CrossRoads Church in Peosta, Iowa, near Dubuque. CrossRoads is a church very similar and size to Northwood – it meets in a community center and worships 250-300 people. Isaac is a native of the Twin Cities (Mahtomedi) and a “PK” (Pastor’s Kid) – his dad was a youth pastor for several years. Musically, Isaac’s primary instrument is keyboard though he is proficient and skilled with rhythm guitar, too.

Isaac has been married to Jenna for just under one year. They met while students at Bethel where she was a music major. Jenna plays violin and viola and was the Student Manager for the Sunday night student led Vespers Worship Ministry at Bethel. Both Jenna and Isaac have a huge heart for ministry to the “least, last, and left out” in our culture. While students at Bethel they participated in a street ministry in downtown Minneapolis and have some amazing stories to tell from their experiences. Since last fall Jenna has worked at the “Dubuque Dream Center,” a community outreach center committed to building on Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream of transforming communities. Jenna launched a new music program at the Dream Center.

Isaac will conclude his ministry at CrossRoads Church on August 12 and begin working at Northwood on Monday, August 27. Please pray for the Holst’s as they say goodbye to friends and colleagues at CrossRoads and pray God helps them find adequate and affordable housing in our area. Pray, too, for meaningful employment for Jenna as she seeks to find a place to invest her skills, gifts and heart. And, make sure to thank God for answering our prayers by bringing us a gifted, godly leader who loves God, people and music (in fact, take 30 seconds right now and pray these things for the Holst’s, ok?!).
