Meet Nathan Gerber, Northwood’s New Youth Pastor!
Guess what? You prayed … and God answered!! After several months of prayer and searching God is bringing us a new youth pastor! His name is Nathan Gerber and he will begin his ministry with us on Monday, July 8. Isn’t that wonderful news?!
Thank you for praying for God’s guidance and help in our search. Our search team began meeting in June 2018 and reviewed over 75 resumes, did 14 phone screen calls, had 11 face to face interviews (in person and on Zoom conference calls), and hosted three candidates for on-site visits. Looking back, I am really grateful for the faithful, hard work of our team and their wisdom in our process. The result is God is bringing us just what we asked for – a youth pastor who loves God, his church and teenagers.
So, who is Nathan Gerber? Here’s a short description of him and his fiancé, Anna Sneary (they are getting married on June 15). Nathan is a recent graduate of Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana, with a Bachelor of Arts in Youth Ministry and Marketing. He is from Indiana and grew up a “pastor’s kid.” He is a die-hard Colts, Pacers, Chelsea FC, and Reds fan (he says he will adopt the Minnesota teams as #2!). He loves Marvel movies, Star Wars, and tacos. He really loves students, people, and learning more about God through His Word and the body of Christ.
Nathan met Anna at Grace College, where she majored in Criminal Justice. They are really excited to move to Minnesota to begin their ministry at Northwood. They are burdened for students, and Anna wants to use her degree to help at-risk teens find Christ. Anna and Nathan were both small group leaders at their previous church in Warsaw, Indiana, where Nathan was an intern. They enjoy the outdoors, going to the movies, and finding the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants in town (invite them to yours, ok?!). They are a wonderful, engaging couple!
Here’s a couple other items to know and pray about for Nathan and Anna. Pray God provides affordable housing in the Maple Grove area. Second, go out of your way to welcome them. Nathan and Anna don’t have relatives or friends in Minnesota. Northwood will be their family and place for friendships. So, reach out, love them and be the church to them. I’m confident you’ll do so because Northwood is good at that – but don’t wait for others to reach out – you do it, ok? Third, pray for their beginnings. Nathan and Anna are beginning marriage and full – time ministry with us. Pray God’s blessing, strength and help as they start an exciting chapter of life.
As you know, one of my favorite hymns is the Doxology. How does it begin? “Praise God from whom all blessings flow …” Today, praise God for blessing us with a godly, gifted youth pastor who loves Jesus, the church and teenagers. Why not take a moment right now and do that?
Praising God for his provision,
P.S. Here’s a recent photo of Nathan and Anna taken for their engagement. Enjoy it!
