A Farewell Speech
Saying goodbye to people you love is always hard and emotional. That’s what Paul did with the leaders of the church in Ephesus, people he had lived with and knew and loved. Paul’s farewell speech reminds us that no one lives forever and that how we live each day with the people we love creates the speech we give when it’s time to say goodbye. When Paul said “goodbye” he didn’t need to apologize to anyone. All he needed to do was remind his friends what he had always taught them and “entrust them to God and the message of his grace that is able to build you up and give you an inheritance with all those he has set apart for himself.” No matter our occupation in life or our role in a family we all can learn from Paul’s example and speech to his friends in Ephesus.
