Husbands and Wives… or, Read Your Own Mail! (4/7/2019)
  -

Colossians 3:18-19, Brian Doten:

It is a federal crime to open someone else’s mail and read it without their permission. Doing so can result in fines and even prison terms (if the mail is stolen). Clearly, it’s never legal or good to open someone else’s mail and read it. That same idea can be applied to marriage. Husband’s should only read what God tells them to do and wives should do the same. If every husband and wife would read – and do – what God says to them, marriages would flourish and there would be no divorce. In Colossians 3, God sends both husbands and wives a letter with clear instructions about what they should do in marriage. Married people – and those considering marriage – should pay more attention to what God says to them personally, and not as much what God says to their spouse.
