The First 40 Days
Northwoodchurch   -

The first 100 days of a new president’s administration are some of the most important. During those 100 days the president “sets the agenda” for their term in office. Acts tells us that for 40 days “after (Jesus) suffered and died, he appeared to the apostles … and he talked with them about the Kingdom of God.” Then, Jesus ended those 40 days in dramatic fashion. He commissioned the disciples and told them to anticipate the coming of the Holy Spirit and, then, before their eyes, Jesus physically ascended into the air and through the clouds into heaven. It was an unbelievable moment for the disciples! And, it’s an important moment for modern day disciples like us, too. Jesus words in Acts 1:8 tell us what Jesus wants us to do – be filled with the Holy Spirit so we can be faithful witnesses of him to the world we live in. Are you a faithful, Holy Spirit filled witness?
