Defense Against Deception (3/3/2019)

Colossians 2:1-10, Brian Doten:

Our spiritual enemy is an evil deceiver who the Bible describes as a “lion on the prowl” (1 Peter 5:8-9), and someone who “disguises himself as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14).  In short, Satan is an evil deceiver who attempts to distract us, discourage us, destroy us and deceive us, even after we become a believer in Jesus.  So, how can we keep from being deceived by our spiritual enemy?  Paul tells us.  He says, “Focus on Jesus, not Satan. Pursue Jesus.  Know Jesus.  Follow Jesus.”  Paul says the best defense against our spiritual enemy is having a strong offense – knowing Jesus and following him.  Growing our relationship with Jesus guards us against the great deceiver, the enemy of our soul and life.
