Don’t Drift (2/17/2019)

Colossians 1:21-23, Troy Nelson:

It’s a lot more enjoyable to coast down a hill than go up a hill while riding a bike. It’s also more enjoyable to just drift down a river than paddle against the current when canoeing.  Coasting and drifting take no effort.  It’s easy and comfortable and relaxing.  But, when it comes to our relationship with God and our spiritual growth, drifting and coasting doesn’t work.  In fact, spiritual drifting and coasting leads us away from God, never towards God.  That’s why Paul writes, “Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News.”  Paul reminds us that drifting is really dangerous and always leads to problems and troubles.  So, what can we do to keep from drifting away from God?
